From tips and techniques to equipment reviews and event listings, I can assist you with everything you need to stay up-to-date and engaged in the world of clay shooting.

Personally, I am very active on the competition circuit, currently competing in AA Class. I have proudly represented my county, shooting in both English Sporting and FITASC. Shotgun Skills Course

The Shotgun Skills course is aimed at anyone wishing to take part in clay shooting or game shooting, to acquire a gun, or novices who have recently acquired a shotgun.

The course covers personal and range safety, shotgun types and use, cartridges and chokes. There is also a practical session on the CPSA method of shooting. The course includes loan guns (if required), ear protection, eye protection, all clays and cartridges.

The course is open to both members and non-members of the CPSA. Under the CPSA banner, Professional Shooting Instructors and Coaches have a convenient modular programme of training with which to progress clients from beginner to proficiency in the discipline of their choice.

Why should you choose my services?

In a lesson we will discuss your experience, your goals, current shooting, your strengths and weaknesses, gun fit, eye dominance, methods, stance, set-up, target presentations, interpretation of lead, sight pictures, movement and gun speed control.

Don’t waste your money on instruction that merely tells you where you missed a target. We focus on the ‘why’ and that’s generally a glitch in the process, way before pulling the trigger.

Each shot will be broken down to break point, visual pickup and gun hold points. These are key to improved and more consistent results. Next we will address stance, mount, method and movement. The sessions will be very much process driven – it’s your understanding and commitment to the process that will result in a more positive outcome.

I am always available after or between lessons to discuss any queries that may arise.

Testimonials From Clients

A couple of years ago my son Lewis Sones and I took a trip to Kibworth shooting ground. Lewis had only just started shooting. We got introduced to an instructor called Brent Woodard. An amazing first lesson and Lewis was hooked. Brent's coaching before and during Lewis's time with the future shots academy has been amazing. Lewis has been through ups downs highs lows. Brent has always been there as a constant support. Lewis is now A class in supersporting, B class in English sporting, first ever high gun at harboro rocks in supersporting 94/100, about to defend his staffordshire junior fitasc title. Lewis wouldn't have progressed so well in the slightest without Brent's great coaching.

I was recommended to Brent as a coach by a friend and have not looked back since. He helped me with my gunfit as a previous coach had made a mess of it and put me on the right track and as a result my scores have improved. Brent is very easy to get on with, with lots of knowledge and just as important he is continually supportive afterwards. Top class coach that I have and would recommend to anyone.

Since been coached by Brent I’ve seen instant improvements, he has a simple delivery of the information and a great way of relating to individuals. He relays information in a way I can understand and the lessons are fantastic value for money. Can’t fault.

We have no hesitation in recommending Brent to anyone, whether you’re just starting out or an experienced shooter looking to improve. He has a friendly and professional approach, is very supportive of his students, very approachable for advice, and as a high level competition shooter himself he has a proven track record

I have been having lessons with Brent for two years. In that time, my scores improved dramatically. Brent explains things in an easy to understand way and is always patient. If things aren't going well, he is always available for a chat and encouragement. I have recommended Brent to lots of people, and they have all benefitted from having lessons with Brent.

I’ve been Clay Shooting for one and a half years now on a non competitive basis. In 2023 I wanted to start shooting at a competition level and decided to aproach Brent at Garlands, from there started having lessons with him. This decision has vastly improved my understanding of competition standards, averaging B class over the course of 3 months. Brent's understanding of clay shooting is impeccable, he is a professional individual, and will support you on and off the clay ground, the importance of having a coach who has the credentials and the experience that Brent has is vital to improve your own shooting, I would recommend Brent to any shooter of any level from Beginner to Professional. Thank You Brent!

Let’s talk shooting glasses…

I’ve had numerous conversations with clients regarding their glasses. Let’s be honest, for those for whom money is no object, they’ll continue to buy Pilla’s. Pilla are market leaders in the shooting industry and rightfully so. They are unsurpassed. The issue is that 3 lenses with a couple sets of arms will set you back at least £815.

With continuing costs rising, this is a stretch too far for many, so it got me looking more seriously into alternatives of late. I’m very pleased to say I’ve found what I consider to be by far the best ‘bang for your buck’ glasses available in clay shooting. X Sight represent superb value for money considering their excellent quality and performance. In contrast, the X Sight 2RX, 3 lens interchangeable kit with couple sets of arms will only cost £205! The Fulcrum single lens fixed frame kit is only £69…

What’s even better is I will have a full range of demo lenses with me at the shooting ground for you to ‘try before you buy’ (by appointment only), please contact me to arrange.
